Global Symposium on Racing Speaker: Matt Scull
Matt Scull is President and Managing Partner of First Rodeo Racing (FRR), a Thoroughbred ownership group he founded in 2021. FRR has since brought more than 175 partners into the sport, the majority of them under the age of 35 and many of them first-time owners, and is now on its fifth partnership fund. Matt got his start in racing through the Amplify Horse Racing mentorship program, which gave him the education, access, and relationships that led directly to launching FRR.
Under Matt's leadership, FRR has built its model on transparency, education, and accessibility. Partners get an inside look at every stage of ownership, from claims and yearling purchases to training decisions and race-day experiences at tracks across the country.
Outside of racing, Matt works in technology sales, providing labeling, marking, and coding systems to large food processing and manufacturing facilities across Texas. That background in technology, operations, and customer relationships shapes how FRR operates and how he thinks about growing the sport.
Matt's vision is to make horse racing as mainstream as the NFL, with group ownership serving as the gateway that turns curious newcomers into lifelong fans and owners. FRR's young, growing partner base is proof that the next generation is ready to show up. He lives in Austin, Texas.
