Global Symposium on Racing Speaker: Bryan Pettigrew
Bryan Pettigrew has worked in professional sports and entertainment for 35 years. His career has included management and marketing of Horseracing internationally at Breeders’ Cup and throughout the U.S. while at the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. He has worked with the PGA Tour and is among the pioneers in producing professional Video Gaming Tournaments in the U.S.
In his current role, Pettigrew is responsible for furthering Penn Entertainment’s well-established strategies in horse racing and future expansion of gaming in Texas. PENN’s vision in Texas is long-term growth and extending the company’s track record of exceptional entertainment, customer experiences, and engagement.
As GM of Sam Houston Race Park (Houston) and Retama Park (San Antonio), Pettigrew and his management teams work to provide safe races, along with annual promotions during the racing seasons and throughout the year. Under his direction, Penn Play loyalty and incentive platform was launched, handicapping tournaments have been increased, and concerts and festivals have returned to his tracks. Pettigrew has worked with the Horsemen, Breeder’s and other tracks in Texas to create the popular Texas Horse Society – young professional’s platform, and the TexasHorseIndustry.com coalition to communicate with the industry on legislative initiatives at the capitol in Texas.
He has been recognized by Advertising Age, American Marketing Association, ADWEEK, American Quarter Horse Association, National Basketball Association and internationally by the Gala Awards. Throughout his career Pettigrew has advised and served on boards, including Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Race for Education, Bluegrass Sports Commission, First Tee Lexington, Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
Pettigrew began his career at Remington Park (Oklahoma City) and has a degree in Communications from the University of Oklahoma. He loves spending time with his family – indoors or outdoors!
