Speaker Series: Peter Rotondo, Senior VP of Racing & Wagering for 1/ST.
Peter Rotondo spoke to University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program students as part of the Joe Hirsch Speaker Series. He briefed the class about his both his past work experience as well as his current work with 1/ST Racing.
Mr. Rotondo a graduate of the RTIP program, serves as the VP of Media and Relations for the Breeders’ Cup, a position he held for over 15 years. He was instrumental in the development of the Breeders Cup nationally with both the telecasts and fan engagement/outreach. Currently he is the Senior VP of Racing & Wagering for 1/ST.
He spoke about the future plans at 1/ST and the upcoming events including the California Crown that is slated at Santa Anita on late September. The class was excited about the connection of contents and special events and how that can be combined with racing. Peter went on to describe how they expect to incorporate the DJs and live music into the racing card, along with special activations throughout the facility. One student decided to drive to Southern California just to check out this innovative event.
