
Global Symposium on Racing Speaker: Eric Halstrom
Eric Halstrom is the Vice President and General Manager of Racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis, a Caesars Entertainment Corporation company. A University of Arizona RTIP graduate, and the 2011 winner of the John K. Goodman Alumni Award, Eric has served in several capacities at racetracks throughout the United States including Canterbury Park, Fair Grounds, Prairie Meadows and Louisiana Downs. In his current role the racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis has achieved unprecedented heights including handle that has grown more than 120% in 6 seasons and an increased prominence for Indiana Derby Day on the national scene. In addition, under Eric’s leadership, Horseshoe Indianapolis was the first in the industry to use a full-time drone for critical race viewing coverage and implemented full-scale Imputed Odds for the benefit of their customers. He has directed significant on-site capital projects including a new 105 stall barn, 50 additional dorm rooms, a Community Center for backside benevolence, a state-of-the-art awning structure on the track apron and a new video and tote board that has greatly increased the local fan experience. Eric has also led numerous grass roots community efforts and raised tens of thousands of dollars for homeless Veterans and women dealing with breast cancer in the Indianapolis area.
