The RTIP Speaker Series featured Frank Mirahmadi, the legendary racetrack announcer who currently calls races at two of the most iconic venues in the country Saratoga Race Course and Santa Anita Park.

Frank shared how his lifelong passion for horse racing began as a kid watching races at Hollywood Park. Determined to work in the sport he loved, he took every opportunity that came his way from gigs at small tracks until eventually finding his own style and voice. He laughed about how, early on, he used to mimic other announcers before realizing that authenticity was key. His breakthrough came at Oaklawn in 2012, where he learned to bring his personality to the microphone, and later through a memorable race call at Turf Paradise that helped define his career.

Throughout the conversation, Frank emphasized that his job as an announcer is about celebrating the winners, keeping fans informed, and always maintaining an upbeat, accurate call. His enthusiasm for the sport was contagious, and students appreciated his honesty about the hard work it takes to make a career in racing along with his reminder to always “find your own voice, stay humble and focused.”
