Nelson Clemmens
Nelson Clemmens has been a longstanding Thoroughbred owner and breeder in both the U.S. and France, racing and breeding horses individually and through partnerships that have introduced new participants to the sport. His deep passion for Thoroughbred racing led to his involvement in various industry organizations, initiatives, and causes, particularly those focused on Thoroughbred aftercare.
Mr. Clemmens’s background in corporate finance as a venture capital principal—where he played a pivotal role in taking two technology companies public and co-founding a venture capital fund—positioned him to make a significant impact on the racing industry. This expertise culminated in the founding of AmWest Entertainment LLC in January 2004, with a vision to bring innovative approaches and technology to a sport in need of fresh ideas, talent, and constructive solutions.
AmWest has embraced an industry-wide approach as an independent advanced deposit wagering (ADW) provider through its AmWager platform, a domestic and international simulcast service, an off-track betting (OTB) operator, and a technology provider for industry participants.
As an independent ADW, AmWager has distinguished itself as a trailblazer in the industry by prioritizing technology to offer sophisticated tools to retail players that empower them to win. By combining cutting-edge technology with a player-focused approach, AmWager continues to carve its niche as a leader in innovation, proving that forward-thinking solutions can drive meaningful change and growth in Thoroughbred racing.
