Retired in Sept. 2022 after nearly 24 years as National Correspondent with Daily Racing Form. Presented with Special Eclipse Award in January 2023. Voted into Joe Hirsch Media Roll of Honor at National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2021. Previous work included Los Angeles Daily News, The Racing Times, The New York Times, Thoroughbred Times, television reporting for NBCSN, ESPN, Fox, and CBS, as well as hosting radio show "Thoroughbred Los Angeles." Books include "Del Mar at 75" and "Breeders' Cup: Thoroughbred Racing's Championship Day," as well as chapters to "Champions." Won awards for writing at Kentucky Derby (six times), Preakness (three times), and Belmont (twice), as well as Breeders' Cup (seven times), and was part of eight Eclipse Award-winning broadcasts with NBCSN, ESPN, Fox, and Sirius Radio. Other awards include Old Hilltop Award from Maryland Jockey Club, Charles. W. Englehard Award from Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders' Association, Walter Haight Award from National Turf Writers' Association, and Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Covered every Kentucky Derby from 1982-2019, and 2022 (39 out of 41), and have covered or attended every Breeders' Cup with the exception of 2020 (so 38 out of 39). Married to Anne Warner, live in Carlsbad, CA, exactly 11 miles from media parking lot at Del Mar.
