Dustin Dix
Dustin Dix is a graduate of the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program. Mr. Dix has worked at several racetracks and in Las Vegas in various capacities. Those facilities include: Ladbroke DRC, Mt. Pleasant Meadows, Imperial Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, Great Lakes Downs, Turf Paradise and Sunland Park. Dix has worked over 1,500 race days at Sunland Park and has worked over 2,000 race days in his career.
Mr. Dix was promoted to his current role as Director of Racing Operations at Sunland Park in January 2004. During his tenure at Sunland Park, Sunland has set statewide record handle for one day of close to $5 million and they were accredited by the NTRA Safety and Integrity Alliance. Also, the Sunland Derby (Gr III) has become the only graded Thoroughbred race in New Mexico and the Sunland Derby (Gr III) and Sunland Oaks are twenty- point races to qualify for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. In addition to his work at Sunland Park as Director of Racing Operations, Dix has formed a consulting company named 10 Acres with fellow RTIP alumni Paul Ryneveld.
Dix has worked on a variety of consulting projects including a consulting agreement to transition Ruidoso Downs to a new management team and most recently as an expert contributor on a comprehensive study for horse racing in the state of Iowa that was completed and submitted to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission in August.
