CJ Wilson serves as the lead trainer for Win, Place, Home, a rehoming/retraining facility that gives horses another opportunity to thrive after their racing career is over.

CJ started going to Santa Anita Park with her grandfather who would take her to the races on the weekends. She fell in love with racing. She even had her 13th birthday at the racetrack where she held a handicapping competition with her teenage friends.

CJ started working at the racetrack as an assistant trainer at Golden Gate Fields and then moved down to Santa Anita to work for Howard Zucker . She later worked as a vet tech where she developed the thought of working with horses needing a second career after leaving the racetrack. She registered ger non-profit organization and had the first horse in 2016. By 2017, she had raised enough funds to make her dream a reality. As of last week, she almost 130 horses that went through Win, Place, Home, and she looks forward to positively touching more horses’ lives. When asked if saying goodbye to an adopted horse is tough, she replied “I know they are going to a great home and I take pride in preparing them for the next chapter of their life.”
