Global Symposium Panel Confronts Decline in U.S. Thoroughbred Foal Crop

TUCSON, AZ — The U.S. Thoroughbred foal crop continues to decline, particularly outside of Kentucky, raising pressing concerns about the future of American breeding programs. The 51st Annual Global Symposium on Racing, hosted by the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program, will address this urgent issue with a dedicated panel titled “Strength in Numbers: Innovative Approaches to Boosting U.S. Thoroughbred Breeding.”
The session will bring together leaders from across the racing and breeding landscape to explore fresh, actionable ideas to reinvigorate regional Thoroughbred breeding programs and secure the long-term vitality of the industry. Panelists will highlight successful models ranging from innovative incentive programs to targeted policy reforms, with an emphasis on collaborative, multi-state efforts.
